Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 24 September 2025, at 21:17 Eastern Daylight Time, CommuteAir flight 4339 (operating as United Express), an Embraer EMB-145XR registered N21129 arriving from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) under Part 121, ran off the runway while landing at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA), Virginia: it overran the end of runway 34 and stopped in the engineered materials arresting system (EMAS), with no injuries among the 3 crew and 50 passengers and no damage to the aircraft. The aircraft had had to be deplaned twice for maintenance issues and left more than two hours late. En route, the crew reviewed the storms approaching ROA; the ATIS reported calm wind, no precipitation and runway 6 in use, but approach control reported rain on the path to 6 and traffic landing on 34, so the crew switched to the ILS approach to 34. During the manoeuvre the rain intensified. Source: the NTSB (United States).
