Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 9 February 2015, during the final approach, on lowering the gear the crew received an amber caution and a red gear warning on the EICAS. They ran the quick reference handbook checklists, including the alternate gear extension, and after two low passes over the tower it was confirmed that the nose gear had not extended. They touched down with the nose wheel retracted and, once on the runway, the captain ordered an evacuation as the cabin filled with smoke. The aircraft suffered significant damage to the lower and forward fuselage, with the skin worn through and torn away, and the nose gear was left turned and jammed in its bay. The investigation found that the nose wheel steering control module failed about 37 minutes after take-off: when it was installed eleven months earlier the feedback sensors were not correctly calibrated, so a residual steering command remained active.
