Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 12 December 2014, at about 20:30, Southwest Airlines flight 3118 — a Boeing 737-76N, registration N7710A — struck several birds during the approach to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall airport, Maryland, arriving from San Antonio, Texas. The captain reported that, descending through about 2,500 feet, the aircraft hit multiple birds. None of the passengers or crew was hurt, but the aircraft suffered significant damage: the subsequent inspection revealed damage to the forward pressure bulkhead and to the main rib of the left wing fixed leading edge.
