Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: LATAM.

Accident at Atlanta, Georgia
On August 29, 2023, the Airbus A350-941 aircraft (registration N576DZ), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Atlanta, Georgia (United States), leaving 17 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
Delta Air Lines flight 175, arriving from Milan-Malpensa, Italy, bound for Atlanta (ATL), met turbulence during the descent into that airport, leaving two passengers and two flight attendants seriously injured. The crew's actions were in line with standard procedures: they were aware of the convective activity in the area and intended to go round other cells. However, the cloud that produced the turbulence developed very rapidly and with no associated precipitation, so the risk was visible neither on the aircraft's weather radar nor on the air traffic control displays. Anticipating another cell further along the route, the crew asked the cabin crew to secure the cabin and switched on the seatbelt sign, but the turbulence arrived before they could sit down, hence the injuries. The investigation noted that a near-real-time turbulence nowcast could have alerted them earlier; indeed, a Southwest flight immediately behind reported severe turbulence at that same point.
