Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 11 September 2001, after the attacks with hijacked aircraft on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, the FAA ordered — for the first time in history — the complete closure of United States airspace (the SCATANA plan): all civil aviation was told to land immediately, and by midday the American sky was clear. Around 240 international flights bound for the United States were diverted to Canada — Operation Yellow Ribbon, with more than 30,000 passengers. Airspace reopened gradually from 13 September, by then under new security measures. Source: the FAA (United States).

Accident at Titusville, Florida
On March 11, 2010, the Airbus A319-100 aircraft (registration N319NB), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Titusville, Florida (United States), leaving 3 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
The flight, operated by an airline, had been enduring light and at times moderate turbulence. The captain had asked the cabin crew to secure the cabin earlier than usual, still in light turbulence, because it was not expected to improve before arrival. The aircraft was at flight level 240 and the cabin crew were making the final preparations for landing when, with no returns on the weather radar, it unexpectedly met 1 to 2 seconds of severe turbulence. The recorded vertical acceleration swung between 1.773 g and 0.391 g. All three flight attendants were standing preparing the cabin; they were thrown upwards and then fell to the floor. Two suffered minor injuries and one was seriously injured. The aircraft was undamaged and landed without incident at its destination. Source: the NTSB (United States).
