Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 6 June 2011, on final approach, the right main gear of a transport aircraft did not extend when the gear lever was selected «down». Shortly afterwards a «gear disagree» message appeared on the EICAS: the nose gear and the left main were down and locked, but the right one remained in transit. The crew applied the quick reference handbook without success and pulled the alternate extension handle several times, but the right gear did not come down; they finally landed with that gear retracted, and it stayed stowed in its bay. The examination found slight wear on the uplock pin, low output pressures in hydraulic pumps 3A and 3B and fluid contamination with particles and fibres above the limits, restricting flow. None of these factors alone would have prevented extension, but their combination did. Source: the NTSB (United States).
