Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

On April 3, 2024, the Boeing 737-7Ct aircraft (registration N567WN), operated by Southwest Airlines, was involved in an accident at el golfo de Mexico, Gulf of America (United States), leaving 3 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 3 April 2024, on a flight whose plan sought to avoid thunderstorms and turbulence, the rapid development of convective cloud prevented the crew from avoiding a heavy jolt even though they were skirting the visible weather. The captain managed to warn the cabin crew, but only one secured herself in time: one crew member and one passenger in the aft galley suffered serious injuries, and another flight attendant, in the aisle, minor injuries. It was convectively induced turbulence, with extreme-intensity radar returns beneath the flight path. The west sector controller (R30/NEPTA) at Jacksonville Center (ZJX) did not warn of the precipitation, probably because of his heavy workload; that sector, with more traffic, was operating with temporary transmitters of only 10 watts — following a 2023 fire that damaged its communications — which caused delays and areas without coverage.
