Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Lima-Jorge Chávez (LIM) International Airport
On October 19, 2026, the Airbus A320-214 (WL) aircraft (registration CC-BFS), operated by LATAM, was involved in an incident at Lima-Jorge Chávez (LIM) International Airport (Peru) due to an engine tailpipe fire. Source: LATAM.
What happened
One of the engines of the Airbus A320 operating LATAM flight LA2302 from Lima to Piura shot flames from its exhaust nozzle as the aircraft was lining up on runway 16R at Jorge Chávez airport for take-off, at around 05:43 on 19 October 2026. This is known as a tailpipe fire: a flare at the engine exhaust, not a fire inside the engine itself. Images of the flames circulated on social media. No injuries were reported.

In our archive, this A320 has flown in Peru with LATAM since 2019, although it keeps its Chilean registration, and it had already suffered a loss of cabin pressure near Pisco in January 2024.

Memories coming soon

The register of memories is not open on this aircraft yet. We are enabling it gradually, record by record, as we consolidate each aircraft's information.

Before opening it we check the aircraft identity — its registration, its serial number and its model — against the civil register of the authority that registered it, so that every memory belongs to the exact aircraft that lived it. When that work reaches this record, the register will open here.
