Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

On August 22, 2014, the Embraer S A Erj170-200Lr aircraft (registration N421YX), operated by Republic Airways, was involved in an accident at Hemphill, Texas (United States), leaving 2 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
The aircraft was in cruise in calm air, with no cloud in the area, the autopilot engaged and the seatbelt sign off, when it had a brief encounter with what the crew described as wake turbulence. The momentary jolt caused an abrupt roll excursion of between 15 and 20 degrees and lasted less than five seconds, after which the air became calm again. Of the two flight attendants standing in the aft galley, one was seriously injured and the other suffered minor injuries. No significant turbulence had been forecast and the crew had not heard other aircraft in the area reporting any. Source: the NTSB (United States).
