Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Reno, Nevada
On February 13, 2019, the Embraer Erj170 aircraft (registration N613CZ), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Reno, Nevada (United States), leaving 5 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 13 February 2019, at about 12:32, Compass Airlines flight 5763 — an Embraer ERJ 175 (N613CZ) from Santa Ana, California, to Seattle — met turbulence in cruise at FL340. About 40 minutes after take-off, in calm air, the captain authorised the cabin service but kept the seatbelt sign on because of an advisory for «occasional light chop». Twenty minutes later, about 8 seconds of severe turbulence lifted the aircraft abruptly and triggered a TCAS resolution advisory for opposite-direction traffic 1,000 feet above; the first officer disconnected the autopilot and, with the captain's help, corrected the pitch. Two flight attendants struck the ceiling before falling to the floor and a passenger who was in the lavatory suffered a small cut. An emergency was declared and they diverted to Reno, Nevada, where one flight attendant was taken to hospital with a broken arm. The cause was a convective cell embedded among stratiform cloud, hard to see. Source: the NTSB (United States).
