Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Atlanta, Georgia
On June 11, 2009, the Bombardier Inc Cl-600-2B1 aircraft (registration N857AS), operated by Delta Connection, was involved in an incident at Atlanta, Georgia (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 11 June 2009, while configuring the aircraft to land, the left main gear light indicated that it was not down and locked. The crew applied the abnormal procedures and recycled the gear once, but the left main continued to show unsafe and the captain decided to land. Having touched down on the right and nose gear, he held the left wing up with right aileron; eventually the wing came down onto the runway and the aircraft stopped on the left edge. Afterwards the gear was seen partly extended and unobstructed; on loosening a hydraulic line it fell and locked. Normal and alternate testing did not reproduce the fault. The fluid in hydraulic systems 2 and 3 exceeded the particle contamination limits, and that of system 3 — which drives the gear — also contained metal particles. After the occurrence, the operator strengthened its fluid analysis and expanded its instructions on extension retries and the gravity system. Source: the NTSB (United States).
