Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: BTS (United States Department of Transportation).

Incident at Chicago, Illinois
On October 18, 2023, the Boeing 787 aircraft (registration N30913), operated by United Airlines, was involved in an incident at Chicago, Illinois (United States) due to damage during maintenance work. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
United Airlines (UAL) flight 3885, a Boeing 787, struck a hangar with its right wingtip while taxiing to park at Chicago O'Hare (ORD), Illinois. It was a maintenance ferry flight (Part 91) arriving from Newark (EWR). After landing on 10C, UAL maintenance mistakenly told them to turn left onto taxiway YY, sending them towards the American Eagle apron rather than their own. Disoriented, they stopped and queried it; maintenance asked them to enter the American Eagle apron and make a 180° turn. The captain saw no wingspan restrictions on the charts and, after confirming with the first officer that they were clear on the right, followed the taxi line; they heard a loud bang and the aircraft swung right: they had struck the hangar. The wing suffered minor damage and the hangar some 236,000 dollars. The 787 has a wingspan of about 60 m and there were some 30 m from the taxiway centreline to the hangar.
