Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 10 October 2014, lightning struck the aircraft and knocked out three of the five forward cockpit displays. The crew applied the published procedures, but there was no checklist for a partial loss of displays; on resorting to the «loss of all displays» checklist, none was recovered. Even so, they landed successfully using the remaining displays. Once on the ground, all of them worked again after a power reset, but there was no procedure for doing that in flight, which would probably have restored them. The displays had passed FAA certification; however, under military-level testing, not required for their certification, the failure was reproduced: it was attributed to their response to a fast transient radiated electric field, of the kind certain lightning strikes can generate.
