Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 12 July 2013, descending into Atlanta, approach control warned the crew of rain on the arrival route, although the on-board weather radar showed no precipitation. The captain, pilot monitoring, switched on the seatbelt sign and called the cabin crew on the interphone to sit down. Before the flight attendant at door 1L could pass the message to all her colleagues — who were preparing the cabin for landing — the aircraft met several turbulence jolts. According to the data recorder, descending through about 13,200 feet the vertical acceleration fluctuated between +1.56 g and +0.024 g over some 10 seconds. A flight attendant who was in the aisle near door 3R was thrown into the air and landed on her feet and knees on the floor. She was helped to jumpseat 3R and, on arrival, taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with fractures of both ankles. Source: the NTSB (United States).
