Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Atlanta, Georgia
On December 8, 2011, the Boeing 757-351 aircraft (registration N583NW), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Atlanta, Georgia (United States) due to a ground collision with another aircraft while taxiing. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 8 December 2011, at night in good visibility, Delta Air Lines flight 2036 — a Boeing 737-700, registration N303DQ — struck flight 787 of the same company, a Boeing 757-300 (N583NW) stopped on the taxiway, while taxiing to its gate after landing at Atlanta-Hartsfield, Georgia. There were no injuries on either aircraft. Having left runway 9R, the 737 was instructed to close up on a 757 because its gate was occupied and stopped on taxiway N. About 15 minutes later, told to turn right onto taxiway J, the captain looked out of his left window and believed he had enough clearance from the 757, but on completing the turn the aircraft shuddered; the 757 crew immediately reported that they thought they had been struck from behind. The 757 suffered significant damage to the right horizontal stabiliser and elevator, and the 737 minor damage to its left winglet. Source: the NTSB (United States).
