Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 11 September 2001, after the attacks with hijacked aircraft on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, the FAA ordered — for the first time in history — the complete closure of United States airspace (the SCATANA plan): all civil aviation was told to land immediately, and by midday the American sky was clear. Around 240 international flights bound for the United States were diverted to Canada — Operation Yellow Ribbon, with more than 30,000 passengers. Airspace reopened gradually from 13 September, by then under new security measures. Source: the FAA (United States).

Incident at Jamaica, New York
On July 7, 2016, the Boeing 757 aircraft (registration N706TW), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an incident at Jamaica, New York (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 7 July 2016, during a maintenance task, an O-ring was cut on installation into a fuel tube, which degraded its sealing capacity at the right engine connection flange. On the next take-off, high-pressure fuel escaped past the damaged seal and atomised inside the engine core compartment; on contact with hot surfaces, it ignited. The right nacelle detection system picked up the fire and triggered the engine fire warning in the cockpit. The crew shut the right engine down, which cut the fuel supply and the fire went out for lack of fuel. The flames damaged external engine components and punctured the inner core cowl of the right nacelle. Source: the NTSB (United States).

Parked due to COVID-19
In March 2020, the 757-2Q8(WL) aircraft (registration N706TW), operated by Delta Air Lines, was parked. Source: BTS.
What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: BTS (United States Department of Transportation).
