Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
United Airlines flight 1759 met moderate turbulence while descending through 11,000 feet to land at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport (CVG), and a flight attendant fractured her pelvis. On the SARGO-3 arrival, the pilots saw a single cloud with no apparent vertical development at around 11,000 feet; with no warnings from ATC, from their weather applications or from the on-board radar, they decided to continue. On entering the cloud they met about 2 seconds of moderate turbulence. The aft flight attendant was seated on her jumpseat, but without her harness fastened, when the sharp jolt threw her into the air: she struck the ceiling and fell sideways to the floor, fracturing her pelvis. The crew declared a medical emergency and requested paramedics at the gate. At the time there was no SIGMET, AIRMET or pilot report in force warning of significant turbulence.
