Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Branson, Missouri
On January 12, 2014, the Boeing 737 7H4 aircraft (registration N272WN), operated by Southwest Airlines, was involved in an incident at Branson, Missouri (United States) due to a ground collision with another aircraft. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 12 January 2014, the crew had briefed an RNAV (GPS) approach to runway 14 at Branson airport, Missouri. During the descent they believed they had identified the airport beacon and did not check their position again with the on-board navigation. At about 20 miles, the controller pointed out the airport at 11 o'clock and 15 miles — a position that in fact corresponded more closely to the nearby Downtown Airport — while Branson lay at 10 o'clock and almost 20 miles. The crew reported the field in sight, accepted a visual approach and switched to Branson tower, which cleared them to land on runway 14. However, they lined up with runway 12 at Downtown Airport and landed there. The captain realised the error just after touchdown, on seeing the runway shorter than expected: he applied maximum braking and stopped about 300 feet from the end of the pavement.
