Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Kahului, Hawaii
On November 30, 2023, the Boeing 717 aircraft (registration N494HA), operated by Hawaiian Airlines, was involved in an incident at Kahului, Hawaii (United States) due to being struck by a ground vehicle or a piece of ground equipment. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 30 November 2023, after pushback, Hawaiian Airlines flight 105 — a Boeing 717-200 — struck the tug as the crew began taxiing out of Kahului airport (OGG), Maui. The 119 occupants were unhurt; one ramp worker suffered minor injuries and the aircraft minor damage. It was night and raining. With the automatic starter inoperative, the captain started both engines manually and then cleared the intercom to be disconnected and the nose gear bypass pin to be removed. He believed he had returned the salute of the worker displaying the pin — the signal that the manoeuvre is over — but the worker did not see the salute and told the tug driver so; the driver sounded his horn and waved his arms at the cockpit with no response. Convinced he was clear, the captain completed the after-start checklist and began to taxi with the tug still beside the aircraft. Source: the NTSB (United States).
