Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 11 September 2001, after the attacks with hijacked aircraft on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, the FAA ordered — for the first time in history — the complete closure of United States airspace (the SCATANA plan): all civil aviation was told to land immediately, and by midday the American sky was clear. Around 240 international flights bound for the United States were diverted to Canada — Operation Yellow Ribbon, with more than 30,000 passengers. Airspace reopened gradually from 13 September, by then under new security measures. Source: the FAA (United States).

Accident at Hopewell, Virginia
On November 20, 2016, the Boeing 717 200 aircraft (registration N930AT), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Hopewell, Virginia (United States), leaving 1 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 20 November 2016, at about 22:23, a flight attendant was seriously injured on board Delta Air Lines flight 1982, a Boeing 717-200 (N930AT) in cruise towards LaGuardia International Airport (LGA), New York, arriving from Miami; the other 114 people on board were unhurt. The aircraft was in cruise at flight level 330, with no turbulence. According to the crew, the flight attendant bent down to take an item from a low shelf and, on straightening up, struck her right-side ribs at full force against the edge of the galley folding table, which someone had deployed without her noticing. The blow caused excruciating pain and difficulty breathing. Told at once, the captain arranged paramedics at the gate and, as the flight attendant could not continue, another travelling on repositioning took her jumpseat for the landing. Once on the ground, she was taken to hospital with a broken rib. Source: the NTSB (United States).
