Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
Spirit Airlines flight 2037 met moderate turbulence during the descent into Nashville International Airport, Tennessee; one flight attendant was seriously injured and no passengers were hurt. Already in cruise at FL310, some 160 nautical miles from the bad weather, the crew saw that developing cumulus had been added to the destination forecast and brought their preparations forward, switching on the seatbelt sign early and urging the cabin to sit down. Passing FL180, ATC ordered an expedited descent to 11,000 feet. On seeing convective cells ahead, they requested a deviation to the right — denied because of traffic — and then to the left, which was approved; on turning, the aircraft entered a pocket of turbulence. At around 16,000 feet it met about 10 seconds of moderate turbulence, with the autopilot engaged and the speed steady. The injured flight attendant, who was emptying a coffee pot in the aft galley, was taken to hospital after landing. Source: the NTSB (United States).
