Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Halifax Stanfield International Airport
On March 29, 2015, the Airbus A320-211 aircraft (registration C-FTJP), operated by Air Canada, was involved in an accident at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (Canada) due to striking the ground short of the runway in heavy snow, leaving 25 injured. Source: the TSB (Canada).
What happened
Night flight from Toronto with 133 passengers and 5 crew. On a non-precision approach to runway 05 in heavy snow, the aircraft descended below the approach path, severed power lines and struck the snow-covered ground about 225 m short of the threshold; it then slid along the runway and came to rest on the left side of it, with no fire. Twenty-five people were injured, one seriously, and the aircraft was destroyed. The TSB found that, in line with Air Canada's procedure and practice for the flight path angle (FPA) mode, the crew did not monitor altitude and distance to the threshold after the final approach fix and did not notice that the aircraft had deviated below the intended descent profile; contributing factors were the limited visual references in the snow and the approach and runway lights not being at their highest intensity.
