Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Palermo Airport
On September 24, 2010, the Airbus A319-132 aircraft (registration EI-EDM), operated by Wind Jet, was involved in an accident at Palermo Airport (Italy) due to a short landing in heavy rain, leaving 35 injured. Source: ANSV (Italy).
What happened
On a night non-precision approach to runway 07 at Palermo in very heavy rain, the A319 from Rome-Fiumicino touched down about 367 m short of the threshold, struck an embankment and the localizer antenna and kept sliding along the runway after the main landing gear gave way. The 129 people on board (124 passengers and 5 crew) evacuated; 35 suffered minor injuries. ANSV classified the event as a short landing due essentially to human factors: the crew continued the approach without both pilots having confirmed the required visual references, with contributions from poor crew resource management, non-compliance with procedures, the rain and the visual illusion of a night approach over the sea. Repair was not economically worthwhile.
