Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 10 November 2011, at about 11:57, Delta flight 1691 — an Airbus A320-211 registered N331NW with 150 people on board, flying from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Reno-Tahoe — struck a flock of birds during the initial climb. The crew described between 50 and 100 large white birds, possibly geese, appearing head-on; the first officer, who was flying, increased the rate of climb to avoid them, but at least one bird struck the aircraft. An ECAM message triggered for loss of pressurisation and the right-side airspeed indication became erratic. The crew declared an emergency and returned to Minneapolis without incident. The inspection revealed significant damage to the forward pressure bulkhead and minor damage to the right engine; nobody was hurt. Source: the NTSB (United States).
