Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Montgomery, Alabama
On December 31, 2022, the Embraer S A Erj 170-200 Lr aircraft (registration N264NN), operated by American Eagle, was involved in a fatal accident at Montgomery, Alabama (United States) due to a ground occurrence during operations, leaving 1 dead on the ground. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 31 December 2022, after an uneventful flight, Envoy Air flight 3408 (operating as American Eagle) taxied with both engines running to its gate at Montgomery Regional Airport, Alabama. The No. 1 (left) engine was still running while they waited for ground power, as the auxiliary power unit was inoperative (a minimum equipment list item). Shortly afterwards, the captain saw a «FAIL» message on the engine display, felt a violent jolt and noticed that the left engine had shut down: a Piedmont Airlines ramp agent had been ingested into it. Security video showed at least one red beacon still lit when the agent walked directly in front of the engine. The rule required staying 15 feet away, almost twice the manufacturer's ingestion hazard zone (8.3 feet). Source: the NTSB (United States).
