Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 11 September 2001, after the attacks with hijacked aircraft on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, the FAA ordered — for the first time in history — the complete closure of United States airspace (the SCATANA plan): all civil aviation was told to land immediately, and by midday the American sky was clear. Around 240 international flights bound for the United States were diverted to Canada — Operation Yellow Ribbon, with more than 30,000 passengers. Airspace reopened gradually from 13 September, by then under new security measures. Source: the FAA (United States).

Accident at Kingston, el mar Caribe
On November 3, 2024, the Boeing 767-322 aircraft (registration N651UA), operated by United Airlines, was involved in an accident at Kingston, el mar Caribe (Jamaica), leaving 1 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
United Airlines flight 128 met moderate turbulence at flight level 360 (about 36,000 feet), some 60 miles (about 97 km) south-east of Jamaica, and a flight attendant was seriously injured. In visual conditions on a dark night, with no indications on the radar or in the weather applications, the aircraft met between 3 and 5 seconds of moderate turbulence. The seatbelt sign had been on for about 15 minutes because of an area of light turbulence, and the captain immediately announced over the public address system that the cabin crew should sit down. The flight attendant at jumpseat 2R had got up to prepare the drinks service when the aircraft «shook violently» and threw her against the galley bulkhead, striking her lower back. After consulting MedLink, the flight continued to Houston (IAH). No advisory or report of significant turbulence was in force. Source: the NTSB (United States).
