Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
Federal Express flight 1376, a Boeing 757-236, could not extend its landing gear during the approach to Chattanooga airport, Tennessee, from which it had taken off shortly before. With the gear up and locked, barely 22 seconds after retraction the left hydraulic system began to lose fluid quantity and pressure, with a low quantity indication and a master caution. Having followed the quick reference handbook procedures, the crew decided to return, but on selecting gear down it did not extend: a triple aural warning sounded and «Gear disagree» appeared in the cockpit. The pilots declared an emergency and resorted to the alternate extension system — which also depends on the left hydraulic system; despite repeating the procedure several times over seven minutes, the gear still would not come down.
