On August 9, 2016, the Boeing 737 832 aircraft (registration N3762Y), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at New York, New York (United States) due to being struck by a ground vehicle or a piece of ground equipment. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 9 August 2016, at 21:00, Delta Air Lines flight 442 — a Boeing 737, registration N3762Y — was struck by a catering truck while parked at the gate during passenger boarding at New York John F. Kennedy airport (JFK). The impact caused significant damage to the lower left fuselage. There were no injuries among the six crew, the 160 passengers or the two ground workers. According to ramp staff, the truck had problems with its handbrake, jumped the chock and struck the aircraft. It was night, in visual conditions. The flight was a scheduled service bound for Salt Lake City (SLC). Source: the NTSB (United States).
