Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 11 September 2001, after the attacks with hijacked aircraft on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon, the FAA ordered — for the first time in history — the complete closure of United States airspace (the SCATANA plan): all civil aviation was told to land immediately, and by midday the American sky was clear. Around 240 international flights bound for the United States were diverted to Canada — Operation Yellow Ribbon, with more than 30,000 passengers. Airspace reopened gradually from 13 September, by then under new security measures. Source: the FAA (United States).

Accident at Detroit, Michigan
On February 18, 2012, the Boeing 737-832 aircraft (registration N374DA), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Detroit, Michigan (United States), leaving 4 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 18 February 2012, the crew had received weather reports — before and during the flight — forecasting turbulence near the destination, including a SIGMET for occasional severe turbulence between 22,000 and 30,000 feet. They therefore told the cabin crew to finish the service before entering the area and, on approaching it, asked passengers and cabin crew to remain seated with seatbelts fastened. The aircraft met severe turbulence while descending through 29,000 feet: a flight attendant who was not wearing her seatbelt suffered serious injuries, and two other flight attendants and a passenger, also unbelted, suffered minor injuries. According to the data recorder, vertical acceleration swung between +1.568 and -0.30 g in barely 0.625 seconds, values ICAO classes as severe turbulence. The site of the occurrence fell within the area with potential for moderate to severe turbulence. Source: the NTSB (United States).

Parked due to COVID-19
In April 2020, the 737-832(WL) aircraft (registration N374DA), operated by Delta Air Lines, was parked. Source: BTS.
What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: BTS (United States Department of Transportation).
