Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Atlanta, Georgia
On June 23, 2017, the Airbus A321 aircraft (registration N315DN), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an accident at Atlanta, Georgia (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 23 June 2017, the first officer was on her third day of initial operating experience and was the pilot flying; the captain, a check airman, was pilot monitoring. It was her fourth landing on the A320 family and her first on an A321. The flight was cleared for a visual approach, stable, with a south-westerly wind of 12 knots gusting to 20. The first officer recalled the captain saying «pull, pull» before touchdown; both described the landing as «firm». He told her she had flared too low (about 20 feet instead of 30) and without enough pitch on the sidestick, and that she had already been flaring late. A company pilot on the jumpseat reported that she «never made any flare at all, despite the captain repeatedly asking for one». The inspection before the next flight revealed an abrasion on the aft fuselage some 4 m long by 0.6 m wide, with the skin punctured in places and stringers, frames and shear clips bent or fractured. Parked due to COVID-19
In March 2020, the A321-211(WL) aircraft (registration N315DN), operated by Delta Air Lines, was parked. Source: BTS.
What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: BTS (United States Department of Transportation).
