Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 2 May 2017, at about 19:30 local time, JetBlue flight 1317 — an Airbus A320, registration N595JB, flying from Boston (BOS) to New York JFK — met turbulence that seriously injured a flight attendant; there were no other injuries and no damage to the aircraft. The flight attendant at position 3 had stayed seated for an extra 5 to 10 minutes after the double chime marking 10,000 feet, because the flight was somewhat rough; when it seemed to settle, she got up to prepare the cabin service. Shortly afterwards the aircraft shook violently and threw her through the air, landing on her right ankle on the galley floor. The crew, who expected only light turbulence, were climbing in and out of cloud with the radar on but no returns; just before levelling at 14,000 feet they met a heavy jolt and were told of the injury. The seatbelt sign was on. The flight attendant was taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fracture of the right ankle. Source: the NTSB (United States).
