Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Tallin Airport
On February 28, 2018, the Airbus A320-214 aircraft (registration ES-SAN), operated by SmartLynx Airlines Estonia, was involved in an accident at Tallinn Airport (Estonia) due to loss of pitch control on a training flight, leaving 2 injured. Source: the ESIB (Estonia).
What happened
Training flight with seven people on board: the training captain, a safety pilot, four trainees and an inspector from the Estonian civil aviation authority. After several touch-and-goes, on reaching rotation speed the aircraft did not respond to sidestick inputs; it lifted off briefly, lost height and struck the runway with its engines near the runway end. The crew stabilised the flight path using manual pitch trim and thrust, returned and, after losing power in both engines on the approach, touched down 150 m short of the threshold and ran off the runway; two occupants suffered minor injuries and the aircraft was declared a total loss. The ESIB attributed the accident to an intermittent malfunction of the stabiliser actuator override mechanism, lubricated with an unsuitable oil, a design flaw in the SECs, and the instructor's decision to continue despite repeated ELAC PITCH fault messages.
