Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Louisville, Kentucky
On August 4, 2009, the Bombardier Inc Cl-600-2B19 aircraft (registration N8543F), was involved in an accident at Louisville, Kentucky (United States), leaving 2 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 4 August 2009, at about 17:15 Central time, Pinnacle Airlines flight 2871 — a Bombardier CL-600-2B19, registration N8543F, from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Detroit — flew through severe turbulence in cruise, at flight level 300 (about 30,000 feet). Of the 50 passengers and 3 crew, one flight attendant was seriously injured and one passenger suffered minor injuries. The aircraft was going in and out of cloud and the crew were relying on the weather radar and their eyes; the turbulence lasted about 10 seconds after penetrating a cloud, with the radar showing no thunderstorms or precipitation and no prior reports in the area. Unable to continue, the flight attendant told a passenger how to use the interphone to call the cockpit. The captain declared a medical emergency and diverted to Louisville (SDF), Kentucky; the passenger was discharged with minor injuries and the flight attendant was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra. Source: the NTSB (United States).
