On October 26, 1993, the MD 82 aircraft (registration B-2103), operated by China Eastern Airlines, was involved in a fatal accident at Fuzhou (China), leaving 2 dead. Source: China Eastern Airlines.

What happened

On 26 October 1993, the McDonnell Douglas MD-82 registered B-2103 was operating China Eastern flight 5398 from Shenzhen to Fuzhou. It landed in heavy rain and wind at Fuzhou-Yixu airport in poor visibility; the crew did not fly a go-around despite drifting right of the centreline, and the aircraft ran off the runway and was destroyed. Of the 80 people on board, 2 died. The investigation attributed the accident to the bad weather and to crew errors. Source: China Eastern Airlines.
