Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Bozeman, Montana
On November 26, 2008, the Boeing 777 aircraft (registration N862DA), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an incident at Bozeman, Montana (United States) due to ice accretion on the aircraft. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 26 November 2008, in cruise at flight level 390 (about 39,000 feet), a Delta Air Lines Boeing 777 that had departed Shanghai suffered an uncommanded thrust reduction («rollback») in the right engine. The crew reduced thrust per the procedure and the engine recovered and responded normally for the rest of the flight, with no injuries. The investigation found that, about 55 minutes earlier, the right engine's oil temperature had begun to rise: the inlet face of the fuel-oil heat exchanger (FOHE) was partly blocked by ice. With the fuel at -22 °C, water dissolved in the kerosene formed ice crystals that accumulated and broke away downstream until they blocked the FOHE, reducing cooling. When the ice cleared, the flow and temperature returned to normal. As a result of the occurrence, Boeing revised its abnormal engine response procedure. Source: the NTSB (United States).
