Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
Five minutes after taking off from Bogotá for Cali, a bomb planted by the Medellín cartel exploded in the 727's cabin and the aircraft broke up in the air over Soacha. All 107 people on board died, and three on the ground. It was the deadliest attack of Pablo Escobar's war on the Colombian state, and the one that led the United States to make him a priority target.
