Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 24 February 2018, at about 12:58, Delta Air Lines flight 2023 — an Airbus A330-323, registration N817NW, arriving from Orlando — met turbulence while descending into Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota. ATC had no reports of significant turbulence from preceding aircraft on that route, but passing about 20,000 feet (flight level 200) the aircraft met severe turbulence. With the seatbelt sign on, the flight attendants were starting to prepare the cabin for landing and were thrown to the floor; one of them was thrown against door 4R and struck her head and back. Of the 298 occupants, that flight attendant was seriously injured — she was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra — and two others suffered minor injuries. The aircraft was undamaged.
