Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Los Angeles, California
On September 22, 2022, the Airbus A330-243 aircraft (registration N393HA), operated by Hawaiian Airlines, was involved in an incident at Los Angeles, California (United States) due to a fuel problem. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 22 September 2022, while the aircraft was climbing through flight level 360, the trim wheel of the trimmable horizontal stabiliser (THS) began moving very rapidly back and forth with no command, producing small pitch oscillations, with no ECAM message and no alert of any kind. The crew disconnected the autopilot to isolate the fault, but the wheel kept moving erratically. The first officer then hand-flew the rest of the trip while the captain managed the declared emergency; fuel had to be jettisoned down to maximum landing weight before returning, and the aircraft landed without incident. Maintenance replaced the pitch trim actuator, but despite exhaustive testing the specific cause of the uncommanded movement was not found and the investigation could not determine it. Accident at Kahului, Hawaii
On December 18, 2022, the Airbus A330-243 aircraft (registration N393HA), operated by Hawaiian Airlines, was involved in an accident at Kahului, Hawaii (United States), leaving 24 injured. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
Hawaiian Airlines flight 35, an Airbus A330, was flying over the Hawaiian islands at flight level 400 (about 40,000 feet) in visual conditions, above a cloud layer between levels 370 and 380. Before departure, the dispatcher had already warned the captain of possible turbulence and convective activity over the islands. Suddenly a cloud the crew described as a «plume» appeared vertically ahead of the aircraft; they had barely warned the lead flight attendant when, within one to three seconds, the aircraft met severe turbulence that left several people injured in the cabin, with vertical accelerations above 2 G. The weather radar showed nothing, since it loses sensitivity at high altitude and does not detect the small droplets in clouds. The plume was in fact cumulonimbus with severe to extreme convective turbulence. The aircraft continued and landed without further incident at Honolulu. Source: the NTSB (United States).
