Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Chicago, Illinois
On June 30, 2017, the Airbus A321 231 aircraft (registration N991AU), operated by American Airlines, was involved in an accident at Chicago, Illinois (United States) due to a ground collision with another aircraft while taxiing. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 30 June 2017, at about 21:30, while taxiing at Chicago-O'Hare airport, the wing of an Airbus A321 (registration N991AU) on American Airlines flight 1162 clipped the horizontal stabiliser of a Bombardier CRJ200 (registration N862AS) operated by SkyWest as Eagle 3047. The CRJ200 had landed and was taxiing to the terminal behind another aircraft on taxiway A7 when the queue had to stop because the aircraft ahead halted unexpectedly, leaving the CRJ200's tail protruding. The A321, taxiing on taxiway A, perpendicular to A7, manoeuvred around that tail, but its left wingtip (the sharklet) struck the CRJ200's stabiliser. The Airbus suffered minor damage and the CRJ200 significant damage; there were no injuries on either. Source: the NTSB (United States).
