Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Jaipur International Airport
On January 5, 2014, the Airbus A320-231 aircraft (registration VT-ESH), operated by Air India, was involved in an accident at Jaipur International Airport (India) due to a veer-off on landing in fog. Source: the AAIB (India).
What happened
Flight AI890 from Guwahati to Delhi, after holding because of fog at Delhi, diverted to Jaipur, where visibility was deteriorating rapidly. The crew continued the ILS approach to runway 27 with a reported runway visual range of 50 m; the captain disconnected the autopilot at 200 ft and landed manually, and the aircraft drifted left and touched down on soft ground beside the runway, where the left wing struck trees before the aircraft returned to the runway and stopped. The report records no injuries among the 179 people on board (one passenger suffered a minor bruise to a finger); the aircraft was a hull loss. The AAIB attributed the accident to the decision to divert to and continue towards an airfield with deteriorating visibility, the manual landing below minima, and shortcomings in the airline's operational supervision and control.
