Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Minneapolis, Minnesota
On October 21, 2009, the Airbus A320 aircraft (registration N374NW), operated by Delta Air Lines, was involved in an incident at Minneapolis, Minnesota (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 21 October 2009, in cruise at 37,000 feet, Northwest Airlines flight 188 was told by air traffic control to change frequency near a Denver sector. The first officer acknowledged and read back the correct frequency (132.17 MHz), but the crew never made contact on it; the recorder captured no transmission until, more than an hour later, they called on 132.125 MHz, the Winnipeg frequency, which referred them to Minneapolis. The aircraft flew without communications (NORDO) for 1 hour and 17 minutes. The first officer had probably begun to dial the new frequency without activating it, distracted because the instruction coincided with the meal, the captain's absence and a flight attendant in the cockpit. When the captain returned, both pilots became absorbed in a conversation about roster changes after the Northwest and Delta merger, and even opened their personal laptops, neglecting the radio watch. Parked due to COVID-19
In March 2020, the A320-212 aircraft (registration N374NW), operated by Delta Air Lines, was parked. Source: BTS.
What happened
The COVID-19 pandemic brought much of world aviation to a halt in 2020: as demand collapsed, thousands of aircraft sat parked for weeks or months. The extent and the dates varied a great deal from country to country and from airline to airline. This record is based on evidence FOR THIS AIRCRAFT (documented parking and gaps in its flight logbook). Source: BTS (United States Department of Transportation).
