Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at New Orleans, Louisiana
On May 4, 2015, the Airbus A319 112 aircraft (registration N941FR), operated by Frontier Airlines, was involved in an incident at New Orleans, Louisiana (United States) due to a precautionary return or diversion. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 4 May 2015, about an hour after take-off, the crew of this commercial flight saw sparks and arcing at the lower edge of the windscreen; they then heard a crack and saw the glass craze. They declared an emergency, diverted to another airport and landed without further incident. The examination revealed that the windscreen, factory-fitted and with 38,085 flight hours, showed ageing and moisture ingress at the edges, which had reached the busbar at the lower forward corner. The interlayer material, brown and bubbled next to the fracture origin, indicated that the glass heating was active: the moisture interrupted the current path between the busbar and the heating film, which caused the arcing and the fracture of the outer pane. It had been inspected 8 days earlier with no findings. The more recent design, in service for five years, reduces that ingress. Source: the NTSB (United States).
