Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at St Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida
On April 29, 2021, the Airbus A319-112 aircraft (registration N306NV), operated by Air Canada, was involved in an incident at St Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 29 April 2021, at St. Pete-Clearwater airport (PIE), Florida, a Cessna 337 registered N370SD was on the right downwind for runway 22, at only 300 feet, when it overflew runway 18 just as Allegiant Air flight 803 (AAY803), an Airbus A319, was taking off from 18 at 200 feet. The closest proximity was 100 feet vertically and 369 feet horizontally. The A319 crew saw the Cessna, stopped their climb holding 200 feet and passed beneath it — it was at 300 feet — as their paths crossed over the runways. The local controller did not visually scan all the runways and the airspace when he sent the Cessna onto the downwind or when he cleared the Allegiant for take-off, and lost situational awareness of the Cessna. In addition, the Cessna pilot flew a downwind leg far tighter than the standard (0.8 to 1.6 km) and did not maintain circuit altitude; the controller did not tell him it was 1,000 feet, and PIE had no published circuit altitude.
