Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident south-southeast of Tabarjal
On September 30, 2026, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft (registration A6-FKF), operated by flydubai, was involved in an accident south-southeast of Tabarjal (Saudi Arabia) due to the first officer’s assault on the captain in the flight deck with the emergency axe, followed by a sudden descent and a diversion to Tabuk, leaving 2 injured. Source: flydubai.
What happened
Flight FZ1073 left Dubai for Tel Aviv at 03:05 UTC with 174 passengers and 8 crew, including two company pilots travelling to operate the return flight. About two and a quarter hours later, over northern Saudi Arabia, the first officer attacked the captain inside the flight deck with the emergency axe and tried to take over the aircraft. In the struggle the 737 entered a dive, dropping from about 34,000 to about 17,000 feet in less than a minute, and the transponder broadcast the emergency and unlawful-interference codes. The Israeli Air Force scrambled fighter jets, which were recalled when the aircraft turned back towards Saudi Arabia.

The captain, injured in the head, managed to open the armoured door. One of the pilots travelling on board, a cabin crew member and several passengers entered the flight deck and overpowered the attacker, and the two return-flight pilots took the controls and diverted to Tabuk, where the aircraft landed at 06:45 UTC. The captain and the first officer were taken to hospital; everyone else was unhurt and continued to Tel Aviv that same afternoon on another aircraft. The rudder suffered significant damage during the descent.

The first officer was detained and transferred to the United Arab Emirates. According to the UAE Attorney General, who described it as an attempted terrorist attack, he had planned to crash the aircraft into the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport, inspired by the 11 September attacks, and had previously flown to Tel Aviv twice to study the route. He confessed to acting alone, although the investigation remains open to rule out accomplices. The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is investigating the occurrence, and flydubai temporarily suspended its flights to Israel.

Memories coming soon

The register of memories is not open on this aircraft yet. We are enabling it gradually, record by record, as we consolidate each aircraft's information.

Before opening it we check the aircraft identity — its registration, its serial number and its model — against the civil register of the authority that registered it, so that every memory belongs to the exact aircraft that lived it. When that work reaches this record, the register will open here.
