Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident near Bishoftu
On March 10, 2019, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft (registration ET-AVJ), operated by Ethiopian Airlines, was involved in a fatal accident near Bishoftu (Ethiopia), leaving 157 dead. Source: Ethiopian Airlines.
What happened
Six minutes after taking off from Addis Ababa for Nairobi, the same MCAS system that had brought down the Lion Air five months earlier again pushed the 737 MAX's nose down after a sensor failed. All 157 people on board died, from 35 countries. Three days later the MAX was grounded worldwide, and the investigation that followed questioned how the FAA had certified it.
