On June 29, 1972, the Convair CV-580 aircraft (registration N90858), operated by North Central Airlines, was involved in a fatal accident over el lago Winnebago, cerca de Appleton, Wisconsin (United States), leaving 5 dead. Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
North Central Airlines Flight 290, a Convair 580 flying from Green Bay to Chicago with stops, collided in flight with an Air Wisconsin Twin Otter over Lake Winnebago, in daylight and good visibility. Both aircraft fell into the lake and all 13 people aboard them died, five of them on the Convair. The NTSB concluded that neither crew saw the other aircraft in time.
