Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Incident at Miami, Florida
On April 12, 2015, the Boeing 767 34Af aircraft (registration N342UP), operated by UPS Airlines, was involved in an incident at Miami, Florida (United States). Source: the NTSB (United States).
What happened
On 12 April 2015, at Miami airport there was a loss of required separation when the local controller cleared UPS flight 357 to land on a runway that was occupied by aircraft N900QS, in position for departure on that same runway. As a result, UPS357 overflew N900QS by about 475 feet. The controller issued the landing clearance without ensuring the runway was clear and without telling UPS357 that there was an aircraft in position, contrary to air traffic control regulations (FAA Order 7110.65). In fact, he gave the landing clearance barely nine seconds after telling N900QS to line up and wait. A contributing factor was the lack of memory aids for arrivals: Miami tower required reminders for departures and for aircraft holding on the runway, but not for arriving aircraft, whose sequence was tracked on radar alone.
