Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Red Sea, off Sharm el-Sheikh
On January 3, 2004, the Boeing 737-3Q8 aircraft (registration SU-ZCF), operated by Flash Airlines, was involved in a fatal accident at Red Sea, off Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), leaving 148 dead. Source: Flash Airlines.
What happened
The charter taking French tourists home to Paris took off at night over the Red Sea and, in the first turn, the captain lost awareness of the aircraft's attitude and rolled it to 111 degrees without correcting. The 737 hit the water three minutes after take-off. All 148 people on board died. Egypt and France disagreed over whether there had also been a failure in the aircraft.
