Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

Accident at Tainan Airport
On March 21, 2003, the Airbus A321-131 aircraft (registration B-22603), operated by TransAsia Airways, was involved in an accident at Tainan Airport (Taiwan) due to a collision with a works vehicle on the runway while landing. Source: the ASC (Taiwan).
What happened
Flight GE543 from Taipei landed at about 22:34 on runway 36 at Tainan, a joint civil-military airport, and during the landing roll struck a contractor's vehicle that had entered the runway for overnight repair work. The 169 passengers and 6 crew were unhurt; of the people in the vehicle, one was seriously injured and two slightly. The aircraft's left main landing gear side brace failed and the left rear fuselage was severely damaged, and it was written off. The investigation pointed to poor coordination between the civil and military authorities on construction safety and to the vehicle entering the runway without tower clearance.
