Vuelopedia is a work in progress: it currently holds about 30% of the information we expect to have by the third quarter of 2027. Although we use only official, highly reliable sources, some aircraft data and history may still contain errors or inaccuracies. We work hard to clear every anomaly from the records using specialized verification tools.

What happened
On 3 May 2006, the Airbus A320 registered EK-32009 was operating Armavia flight 967 between Yerevan, Armenia, and Sochi, Russia. Before dawn, with fog and rain below the minima for runway 06, the crew abandoned the approach and began a go-around. During the climb, with the autopilot disconnected and under heavy stress, the captain made nose-down inputs through loss of situational awareness and the aircraft descended until it struck the Black Sea a few kilometres from the coast. All 113 people on board died: 105 passengers and 8 crew. It was the worst air disaster in Armenia's history. Source: Armavia.
